Full Text

BALTIMORE, August 27.

Last Sunday afternoon, as some children were playing upon a wharf, one of them unfortunately fell into the water, and in a short time sunk to the bottom: A little boy, about eleven years of age, hearing the cries and lamentations of his companions, manfully plunged in, and brought up the child to the top of the water, when he was assisted by a negro man, who succeeded in getting him upon the wharf.

By this time the child was deprived of all signs of life; not a pulse to be felt!—not a vivid hue in the eye!—apparently doomed to a subterranean abode!—But, by the humane and benevolent exertions of Dr. Elisha Hall, in pursuing the proper method of resuscitation, the child was soon rescued from the impending jaws of death, and again restored to the fond embraces of its afflicted parents.
