THE ARCADE.—On Saturday last, the Arcade Company commenced operations, by removing the buildings which have heretofore occupied the land, on which the structure is to be erected. Ample preparations have been made to execute the whole work, and it is said that the building will be completed early in October, and will then be ready to receive tenants. We have been permitted to examine the several plans which have been furnished by the artists, who are engaged to erect the Arcade. Two of them are original, and two are copies, taken from the Arcades recently built in New-York and Philadelphia; and although we are not the best judges in the world in these matters, still we are of opinion, that the original plans, drawn by an enterprising and intelligent mechanic of the town, Mr. Bucklin, are decidedly superior; and they should have the preference, if we had the power of deciding.
