A Legionnaire?
Local Post Gives Reasons to Veterans
Concluding the reasons every eligible veteran should seriously consider becoming a member of The American Legion.
4. HONESTLY: Veterans of both Wars have benefitted through the efforts of The Legion. Benefits for dependents of deceased veterans; pensions for and hospitalization of disabled and unemployable veterans, the G. I. Bill of Rights, etc., etc.. are due to the untiring efforts of The Legion. Common decency alone, it would seem, demands that veterans be honest enough to support The Legion at least by the payment of dues. Through dues The Legion aids and supports the veteran. And it's a fact-"Selfishness finds favor neither with God nor man."
5. SPIRITUALLY: Our Preamble to Our Constitution starts with- "For God and Country we associate ourselves together....". Most of us in The Legion believe it and sincerely try to live it. It behooves us, as veterans, to lend our presence, our names, our thoughts, and our efforts to do His bidding.. "Help ye one another." Organized we can do much. Individually but little if anything. YES, it is true....an honorably discharged veteran is eligible for and a comrade in The Legion. Rank does not find favor with God. and it does not find favor in The Legion.
6. FINALLY: The Legion has helped You, the Community. State and Nation. And remember..... The Legion will not forget You and Yours when "Taps" are sounded. That should mean something to You. While You yet live, there- You should support The Legion. Join Now. because it may be too late tomorrow.
