The New-York Courier mentions the death of Capt. Shefield of that city. Some years since, it is stated, Capt. S. commanded an American ship bound to Naples with a valuable cargo, and was captured in the Mediterranean by an Algerine frigate, the crew taken out, and a prize master and eight Turks were put on board, and the ship ordered for Algiers. Capt. Sheffield was left alone with his boy on board the ship, and watching a favorable occasion he actually threw the nine Algerines overboard, and with his boy carried the ship in safety to Naples!
