On the 5th, the size of the daily was reduced, and we hoped in that shape to scud through the storms of the impending Winter: but the rate at which business people are emigrating to other fields, and mines closing down for Spring, admonishes us that a daily will not be sustained by the public for the coming four months, and we have no more money with which to make up deficiencies. And so, regretfully, with a reduced force in every department, expenses curtailed, close-reefed, we stand out on the old course, for a weekly issue, waiting an improvement in times with the coming of the birds.
When the Spring time comes gentle Annie, we hope to see the News bear buds which shall hold good promise of daily fruitage and in gratifying abundance.
