THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION AT CINCINNATI.

The Albany Argus directs attention to the fact that one of the delegates to the National Democratic Convention at Cincinnati appointed by the late hardshell convention at Syracuse has been since nominated for a high judicial office by the know-nothings. The further fact is also stated that this delegate and know-nothing nominee has been conspicuously persistent in opposing all propositions for a reunion of the democracy of New York, and the Argus well remarks, "Such a circumstance as this is well calculated to open the eyes of democrats, and to lead them to scan well the conduct and designs of those who insist upon perpetuating democratic disunion." We have seen with regret frequent intimations that there existed some secret understanding between the know-nothings and some of the leaders of the hardshell democrats. The existence of such a suspicion makes the advice of the Argus altogether proper when it says:

"The national democrats of this State should lose no time in taking steps to purge their delegation to Cincinnati of such know-nothing members as Mr. Smith."
