Full Text

COMMUNICATED.

On Monday afternoon between three and four o'clock, a gentleman was assaulted and beat in a cruel manner, in Fourth Street, near the Academy, by a man who said his name was Hugh Lindsay, and that he was "an Irishman." This daring attack, as collected from the accounts then given, was in consequence of Lindsay's having been sued for a just demand for Rent, and that he chose to have such satisfaction. It is to be hoped a due punishment will follow such violaters of the laws of society; and that respectable and peaceable citizens may not be in danger of assassination and insult by unprincipled men.
