ORCHESTRA
Members Say They Were Not Engaged
to Play for "Hanging of the Crane,"
and That Women's Auxiliary Do
Them a Great Injustice.
The members of the Opera House orchestra say that a great injustice was
done them either by the members of the
Women's Auxiliary of the Young Men's
Christian association, or those who had
the home talent entertainment of the
"Hanging of the Crane" under management,
regarding their non-appearance at
the opera house Tuesday evening to play
for the entertainment. They say that
they had never been asked by anybody
to play for the entertainment, and for
that reason alone they did not show up.
Some three weeks ago one of the members
of the Auxiliary asked the members
if they would play for the entertainment.
They replied that they were perfectly willing
to do so. The member then told
them that they would be informed later
when they would be wanted. They
would be wanted for one night's rehearsal
and for the evening of the entertainment.
They were told. That was the last thing
they ever heard of the matter, no one
having informed them that their services
would be wanted.
