Full Text

Kinderhook, July 9th, 1841.

Dear Friends—I have received your paper and like it very much. Plain speaking and acting is what is wanting. I know you speak the truth in your paper: the church, and state, and school I cannot support. You speak of individual property—that seems to me to be the root. There is no such thing as individual property: —I see and feel it to be so :—we must be separated from the world.

I know that we have nothing to do with effects: we have only to act out what is in us, and because it is in us. I want you to send me the first and second numbers if you have them. I now send you one dollar.

Yours for the truth,

HENRY MICKEL.
