Metropolitan Choir To Present Concert

The Metropolitan A Cappella Choir, conducted by Joseph S. Powe, will present a concert at the People's Institutional Baptist Church, 24th Avenue and Fir Street, on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8 p. m. This concert is being sponsored by the Senior Choir and Usher Board.
Under the capable leadership of Mr. Powe, the Metropolitan Choir has soared to national fame, having recently been selected by the Columbia Broadcasting System to sing on two successive Sundays over a nation-wide hook-up through local station KIRO.
For the past two years the choir has maintained a weekly Sunday night radio broadcast.
The eminent Mr. Powe, once director of the renowned Wings Over Jordan group, has been duly recognized in the Seattle musical world over a period of recent years. A graduate of Dillard University, he was actively engaged in directing various choirs and orchestras while serving in the U. S. Navy here, the N. A. D. Choir being one of his most popular singing aggregations.
Tickets for the coming concert may be secured through the People's Institutional Baptist Church, Rev. Fountain W. Penick, pastor.
The public is invited to attend Good Friday evening services, which will feature the rendition of The Seven Last Words of Christ, a sacred cantata, by the Senior Choir of People's Institutional Baptist Church, also under the direction of Mr. Powe.
