A thrilled crowd packed Boston State Teachers College at the History Week festival presented by Anna Bobitt Gardner state director of History Week celebration for the Commonwealth.
The program included an address by Atty. Herbert E. Tucker, invocation by the Rev. Russell Peek, reading of the Governor's proclamation by Commissioner Victor C. Bynoe.
Governor's military aide, who was escorted to the stage by Boy Scouts Post 21, led by Scout Master Paul Sherman. To a background of music played by Blanche C. Morris. Ena Harris was narrator for the tableaux which showed the exploits of Benjamin Banneker, and Henry Blair.
Principals in the cast were: Louise Parks of Boston and New York, Adrienne Williams, Donald Joseph. Leonard Maxwell, James L. Brown. Herman Green, Sarah B. Maxwell and Chauncey Moore. The Academy Dancers, under the leadership of Alicia Dunn, rendered dance interpretations of spirituals.
The dancers were Florence Litthcut, Pauline Litthcut, Andra Brown, Viola Houston. Ethel Taylor and Joan Gay.
The Brotherhood Male Chorus of Concord Baptist rendered a group of spirituals with Vales E. Prout, director; Odell Muckle, accompanist.
Roosevelt Hunt, student of Anna Bobitt Gardner rendered a piano solo.
All numbers were enthusiastically applauded.
