Full Text

Story of the Falsehood.—The latest and biggest and most impudent falsehood originated and circulated by the frightened Douglasites is, that Chief Justice Taney is in favor of their idol, and approves of his construction of the Dred Scott decision! The idea is preposterous. Judge Taney is a profound jurist, a consistent Democrat, and an ardent supporter of Breckinridge and Lane. If bold lying and unblushing bragging can elect a President, Douglas will surely be successful. His friends have claimed every prominent Democrat for him, but without the least authority, and in direct opposition to their sentiments and declarations.
