FRENCH MONUMENTS.

Three monuments are now erecting by order of General Moreau, in the name of the army of the Rhine.

The first, which is consecrated to General Desaix, is built in an isle, situated between Kehl and Strasburg, at the place where a part of the troops destined for the defence of Kehl had encamped.

This monument, constructed on the ruins of the fortification of Kehl, is nearly finished. The bas reliefs will form the next object of attention; the first will represent the bust of General Desaix; the second a passage of the Rhine--the third, the conquest of Upper Egypt; the fourth, the battle of Marengo, at the instant when the General was killed.

Inscriptions, illustrative of the different objects, will be placed under the bas reliefs.

The second monument is that of General Beaupuy; it is to be raised at about a league from Neuf Brisac, near the Bridge of Commerce, established on a branch of the Rhine, below the Fort Mortier.

The badness of the season has retarded the progress of the structures; the foundations, however, are already laid, and in less than three months, if no obstacle intervene, the whole will be completed.

The bas-reliefs represent on the first front the whole length figure of General Beaupuy; on the second, the battle of Cholert, in which this General had three horses killed under him, the last of which being mortally wounded, galloped with him towards the enemy, when a chasseur ran towards him, and preserved him, by giving up his own horse.

The third face represents the siege of Angers by the rebels; the troops having loudly expressed their desire that Beaupuy should command the army of defence, that General, who was not completely cured of a wound he had received a few days before, caused himself to be conveyed by four grenadiers from the hospital to the ramparts, and undertook the command to which he had been called by the troops. The fourth represents the battle of Emmedingen; in which General Beaupuy lost his life.

The third monument is that of Marshal Turenne: it has just been erected at Strasburg. The same year in which homage was paid to the memory of this great man, the afflicted army raised a monument to the memory of the brave Latour d'Auvergne, the last descendant of Marshal Turenne.

The care of these monuments is to be entrusted to three military men, who have been wounded, while serving in the army of the Rhine, during the last campaign. For this purpose, a house is constructed in the vicinity of each obelisk.
