WASHINGTON CITY.
FRIDAY, JUNE 3.

Samuel Dana, a determined Republican, is elected to Congress from Massachusetts, vice W. M. Richardson, resigned.

The Legislature of Massachusetts convened on Wednesday week. John Phillips was chosen President of the Senate, and T. Bigelow Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The committee appointed to open, record and cast up the votes for Governor and Lt. Governor, reported as follows:

FOR GOVERNOR.
Whole number of votes 102,477
Necessary to a choice 51,239
Caleb Strong has 56,374
And is chosen.

FOR LT. GOVERNOR.
Whole number 102,236
Necessary to a choice 51,119
Wm. Phillips has 56,374
And is chosen.

Mr. Dexter had 45,953 votes, and there were 150 scattered.
