MILWAUKEE, Wis.-(INS)- Lou Perini, owner of the Milwaukee Braves, voluntarily offered Saturday to increase the club's annual stadium rental from the nominal fee of $1,000 for this year and next to $25,000 per year.
Perini also proposed to transfer the scoreboard from old Braves Field in Boston to Milwaukee and install it at the stadium at no expense to Milwaukee County.
The Braves president said: "The Braves management would like to acknowledge that the response, enthusiasm and support of the Milwaukee and Wisconsin fans have surpassed all expectations."
Perini said the Braves field scoreboard is the most modern and complete in baseball.
His offers were prompted by the phenomenal support of the Braves since they transferred to Milwaukee. Attendance at home games already has surpassed 600,000.
Attendance at Boston all last season was 281,278.
