Full Text
Sumte und Hhae who was appointed by the President as chairman of the Farm Security Administration, and only a few days was given the additional one perhaps even greater responsibility position of the multi-billion dollar Commodity Credit Corporation. Some even among his staunchest friends and well-wishers feared that was through when he failed to unseat Senator Reynolds in 1938. But the record he had made in the House of Representatives stood him in good stead and demonstrated to those in high places his ability as a manager in getting things done. Today he has the biggest job and as the weightiest responsibility. Already he has permanently succeeded in straightening out the kinks in the Farm Security Administration, and his success in that task resulted in these new duties being unloaded upon him. His neighbors in Oxford and Granville will pardon us if we presume to size their pride in the abilities of their native son. All here in Henderson and Vance may view with satisfaction his national attainments and predict that he will go even further, and hope that he shall have that good fortune whenever the opportunity for it opens in the future.
