Some Days ago several very able and experienced Engineers were order'd to set out from hence for Livonia, to inspect the strong Places in that Province, and to make all such Reparations every where as they saw requisite, with the utmost Expedition.
Orders have likewise been issued out to the Commandants at Cronstadt, Revel, and Fredericksham, to equip all the Men of War, Gallies, and other Vessels that were in either of those Parts, with the utmost Expedition, and of which the Fleet was to consist, in Order that they might be ready to set Sail as soon as ever the Baltic, which had been frozen, should be free from Ice.
Notwithstanding most of the Generals and other Officers of Distinction, who had procured a free Licence to spend some Time at this Court, have been gone from hence for some Time to their respective Posts, yet the Court continues still to be very numerous and brilliant, and the Diversions of various Kinds are still carried on with as much Gaiety as ever.
