We believe the Russians have taken up the business of making a conquest of Turkey in good earnest and that the latter can have little to expect but a most bloody collision of arms, if not a dreadful and disgraceful overthrow. How far the natural barriers of the Turks may serve to impede the operation of the Russian forces, it is impossible to say. It is hardly to be believed that a leader so powerful and prudent as Nicholas, has not well weighed and calculated the matter as well as made provision against the supposed and perhaps real difficulties. From the various accounts respecting his movements and the constant reinforcements he is daily receiving both of arms and men, there is little prospect that he intends to listen to any pacific overtures. Probably the present campaign may terminate when he shall arrive at those natural obstacles that have been mentioned by some as insuperable, but the result will show whether the spirit of bravery and wisdom already displayed by Russians are to be overcome in the execution of a project at which all Christendom should rejoice and lend their hearty approbation.
