FREDERICK.

The Battle Fought, and Won. On our first page our readers will find the letter of instructions addressed by the freeholders of Frederick county to their Representatives. These precepts settle of course the vote of this county in the next Legislature on the election of a Senator to the Congress of the U. S. They not only require the delegates to vote against Mr. Leigh but are also imperative that they shall vote for such candidate as may be selected by the party favorable to the present Administration. The names as appended to the letter of instructions constitute a number equal to all the votes taken at an ordinary election; it is emphatically the voice of the county. It may now be seen how many have been deceived--how many have been influenced by partial statements, &c., &c. There they are, the names of 1154 freeholders of the county, speaking to their Representatives in the voice of stern authority, and requiring them to represent their constituents. We shall take care to print extra numbers of this paper to send to some of our Whig friends that they may see and admire this practical exhibition of one of the fundamental principles of Democracy. It is thus our liberties shall be ever safe. The people are not so easily "humbugged" as many are wont to believe, and never was there more palpable proof of this than is evidenced in this day's paper. From the mode in which the Whigs conducted the canvass, one would have supposed there was not a Jackson man left in the county--and yet here an embodied phalanx of the county! They are now embodied--the lines of party are drawn and all small will be forgotten--the Administration will be sustained hereafter the party will act as one man shall hear from old Frederick, for he takes the Virginian, and regularly puts on his spectacles and opens it first of all his papers.--Winchester Virginian.

One District--Our friend of the Martinsburg Republican is mauling the Whig party in this district with downright good will. He seems to have no idea of allowing them to succeed in the election of their candidate for Congress: and unless appearances change very much before the spring elections, we have no doubt our friend will be gratified by the success of our present deserving Representative. The democracy of Frederick are fully alive to the importance of adhering to their principles in the approaching elections, and we can undertake to answer for them that they will be found true to their faith. From all parts of the district, we receive the most gratifying information as to the unanimity of sentiment which exists upon this subject, and we doubt not "in this sign we shall conquer."
