JUST JOTTINGS.
By ROBIN LAMPSON.

"Just" in the sense of merely,
"Just" in the sense of right;
Ah, shall I see things clearly,
Who use truth as a light?

QUITE AS WE THOUGHT.
A Columbia university declares that a great labor party is inevitable in America, and says that when labor thus assumes power, the present republican and democratic parties will unite into one party.

Well, we always thought that the two old parties were actually the same thing behind the scenes. They always served identical interests, and they were equally corrupt. The representatives of either party always served capital with a marvellous unity of purpose.

Time was, perhaps, when the two old parties were slightly separated. No longer. But the old forms were kept for the sake of deception, and these deceptions certainly served the capitalists well. For several decades now they have successfully fooled the people of the country. It has always been a case of capitalism saying, "Well, which one of my hands are you going to put your vote in, Dear Citizen?"

The gods be thanked that labor is awakening to the situation!

WE ALL WONDER.
I wonder how the great money rulers of the world really like this aftermath of their war? Especially the Danish general strike in full sway? Also the Soviet rebellion in Germany? And the retreat of the polish armies from Russia?

Denmark and Germany are perilously near Russia. And as for Poland—ye gods!

RAISING KANE.
Birth Notice—To Mr. and Mrs. John Kane, March 10, a son.

THE KICKER
(In Locomotive Engineers' Journal.)
Quit your grumbling, go to kicking.
Start a racket if you must,
Take a punch or take a licking
If you have a cause that's just.

Grumbling never won a battle,
Never won a friend for you;
If you'd win, just kick like sin.
And keep kicking till you do.

Patience is a virtue rare,
Helps us bear what can't be mended.
But its merit ceases where
By its aid no wrongs are ended.

Grumbling aggravates our troubles,
Even makes them multiply:
If you'd mend them, or would end them,
Keep on kicking till you die.

When the world, experience wise,
Decides on whom it will bestow
Honors due, to recognize
Types of men who made her so.

She'll build monuments of stone,
Graceful shafts of marble tall:
To the kicker, 'twill be shown
She'll build tallest one of all.

—JASON KELLEY.
