Full Text

Mr. Butler has written a verbose letter to the Jackson Convention in Mississippi, declining their nomination for Vice President-recommending union and harmony-and plastering Mr. Van Buren with as much praise as he could conveniently daub on. The letter is not in any wise important or interesting; but we perceive "the party" intend to make a mare's nest of it, for the Globe has the following announcement:

"Mr. P.'s letter is working off at this office in pamphlet form, on a new, handsome type and fine paper, neatly covered, and will be furnished to order at $3 a hundred."

We suggest, as an appendix, the "East Room Letter."
