Rev. E. A. Culmer, pastor
Mrs. S. Dawkins, reporter
Sunday School was opened by Mrs. M. Culmer, as our superintendent. Mrs. Albertha Adderley was indisposed. We pray for her speedy recovery and hope she will be with us next Lord's Day.
The classes took their respective places as usual with the teachers in charge.
Mother's Day was crowded with activities. At 11 am. services Mrs. Selena Farrington was in charge. Scripture was read by Mrs. Caroline Bain; prayer by Mrs. Aletha Dean. As we were not able to get a speaker for the morning we had our pastor who preached from St. Matthew 22:27. The women's choir sang and No. 1 ushers' board served.
The 7:30 devotion was led by Mrs. M. Culmer: Scripture read by Mrs. Myrl Gibson; prayer by Mrs. Mamie Mitchell Mrs. S. Farrington spoke on the origin of Mother's Day; Mrs. M. Rolle on "Inventory of Mothers;" Mrs. Gladys Roberts playing the Virgin Mary; Mrs. Gladys Wallace reading "The Duty of Mother to Her Children and Home": Mrs. Bain, "Dedication to the five Honored Mothers." Mrs. Dawkins played the part of old Mother.
We were happy to have our organist, Mrs. V. Higgs back from her trip to California. She was on hand all day and No. 2 ushers served.
Ushers board No. 1 will have its anniversary Sunday at 4 pm. The public is welcome to the celebration. Refreshments free.
The Spring Tea for May 19 has been postponed to the 26th.
