Civics, Night School, Talkies And Literature Occupy Minds

The social trend of Douglas seems to have turned toward finances, and mental, civic, and physical development, toward weddings and reviews of literature, toward night school and the talkies. Many of the bridge clubs of the city have not revived their playing schedules for the new year as yet. The music club will not have a regular meeting till later in the month because of such an unusual amount of illness among its members. The Woman's club had its first meeting of the year on Monday of this week. Many of Douglas grown-ups are meeting at the local high school to brush up on everything from typing and English construction to Spanish conversation. Then too there were several delightful luncheons in Douglas homes this week.
