WASHINGTON CITY
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29, 1801.

It was our intention to have inserted in this day's paper several original communications, and the official declaration of war of the king of Spain against the Queen of Portugal, of which we have procured a translation. But the great length of the proposals for carrying the mail, and of mr. Fenwick's vindication, oblige us to postpone them, notwithstanding the aid of a supplement.

They shall appear in our next paper.

Though the advertising department will on some occasions unavoidably encroach on the columns ordinarily devoted to intelligence and political discussion, yet the greatest care will be taken, with the assistance of supplements, to make amends for any deficiency in one paper by the appropriation of greater room in another.
