Full Text

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.--We have information from Pittsburgh, says the Baltimore American, which states that the Board of Engineers employed to survey the route of this canal had arrived in that city on the 29th ult. having been detained at Uniontown by the necessity of completing all the instructions to the three parties of surveyors, to whom the different sections of the route have been allotted. The Board were to leave Pittsburgh on the 2d. instant for Big Beaver, about 26 miles down the Ohio. The party would consist of the three members of the Board, Dr. W. Howard, Capt. Boussing, Capt. Douglass of West Point, and Lieutenants Dutton and Courtenay. They would probably be absent a month from Pittsburgh, and on their return they would meet the Pennsylvania Commissioners, and examine with them the communication between the waters of the Susquehanna and the west, by means of the Conemaugh and Juniata--as also the route of a canal to connect the waters of the Susquehanna with those of the Schuylkill, through Lancaster County.
