LOSES JOB ON FLIMSY CHARGE.
Veteran Railway Mail Clerk Discharged
From Service.
Special to Times-Republican.
Washington, May 30.--On the flimsy
charge that he stole a dollar bill from
the postmaster at Kalmar; also because
he is alleged to have committed the un-
forgivable sin of taking some boy's um-
brella, along with another minor charge,
the postoffice department has dis-
charged a railway clerk named Moorehouse,
of Cedar Rapids, after a quarter
of a century service. Moorehouse de-
nies he ever took the money, but on the
advice of his wife he gave the post-
master a dollar, and this was employ-
ed as evidence against him. Senator
Cummins and Representative Good are
seeking to have him restored.
