A meeting was held at the Thatched House Tavern, St. James's street, with Earl Fitzwilliam in the chair, for signing a petition to Parliament in favor of the Catholic claims. On the motion of Sir J. Newport, a committee was appointed consisting of the Duke of Devonshire, Marquis of Downshire, Earl of Moira, Earl of Darnley, George Ponsonby, Sir John Newport, and Mr. Robert La Touche. The meeting adjourned till Monday the 6th of April to receive the committee's report.
