A meeting of the Protestant Noblemen and Gentlemen possessing property in Ireland, was this day held at the Thatched House Tavern, St. James's street, Earl Fitzwilliam in the chair, for the purpose of signing a Petition to Parliament, in favor of the Catholic claims. On the motion of Sir J. Newport, the following Noblemen and Gentlemen were appointed as a Committee to carry the object of the Petition into effect—The Duke of Devonshire, Marquis of Downshire, Earl of Moira, Earl of Darnley, &c. George Ponsonby, Sir John Newport, & Mr. Robert La Touche: who are invested with a discretionary power to add four to their number, if necessary. The meeting adjourned till Monday the 6th of April, to receive the report of the committee.
