"The Spaniards now publickly say, that to subdue the Algerines only they should not want so great an armament; but as the English have at present so numerous an army in America, it is necessary for Spain to be on her guard."
The squadron fitted out at Brest, under the command of admiral Bougainville, has at last received orders to join the Spanish fleet, and the duke de Chartres set out from Versailles on the 6th instant, in order to embark on board the said squadron for Spain, where he is to have an important charge in the army.
