Impostors.—Our city appears to be peculiarly infested at present with imposters of various kinds. Recently we have heard of many efforts by strangers, to impose upon the unsuspecting, by means of various false representations. Some of the cases which have come under our notice, we have already exposed. On Saturday last an able-bodied white man was traversing the city, representing himself as a member of a church, accidentally caught from home without money, and making appeals for aid to the amount of 50 cents or more, to relieve himself of difficulty and enable him to get home, where he had "ample means and hosts of friends." In his peregrinations, he called at the clothing store of Mr. E. B. Spence, where he was questioned closely on the subject of his difficulties and representations thereof, and his story was such as to leave no doubt of his being a vile imposter. Vice and laziness are ever busy to filch and draw support from the earnings of honesty and industry, and it behooves the public to be on their guard against the numerous tricks and devices resorted to almost daily to swindle them.
