The Bethune School PTA has a special activity in addition to the regular meeting. An "Open House" in which the parents of pupils were free to visit the classrooms, examine their children's work and visit with the teachers, preceded the PTA meeting.
A physical education demonstration highlighted the meeting. Jesse Bell and a committee of teachers and pupils from all the grades demonstrated techniques taught and learned in the physical education program. This was the first of a series of subjects adopted by the PTA program committee under the theme of "Know Your School".
Clement C. Watkins, principal, gave informative and enlightening remarks on the subject of "What Is A Teacher?"
Miss Betty Thierry's second-grade class won the PTA banner for the second consecutive time for attendance with 32 parents being present.
The PTA mothers have assisted in distributing 400 toothbrush kits to Bethune children at cost to encourage better care of teeth.
On Dec. 10 used clothing will be distributed to Bethune families. Clothing is urgently needed for this purpose.
At the next PTA meeting, "Reading" will be the topic of the evening. Mrs. Earline Rogers is publicity chairman.
