Dog Saves Master's Life.

An Irish terrier saved his master's life at Belmont Park, N. Y., a few days ago, says an exchange. Jock Scot, a fair sprinter but a savage at heart, was in ugly humor and viciously attacked his trainer when he went into the stall. He threw his trainer down, planted one foot on his body and tearing the clothes off his back sank his teeth in his shoulder. Three or four stable hands rushed for clubs or pitchforks to beat off the horse, but the Irish terrier waited for nothing.

He flew at Jock Scot, grabbed him by the nose and shook it as he would shake a rat. The infuriated horse turned his attention to the dog long enough for the trainer to crawl painfully to safety.

The trainer once owned a horse named Chief to which he was devoted. The Irish terrier was named in memory of the horse. The dog is now the trainer's dearest possession.
