Full Text

POLITICAL lunatics are at large in the land and it becomes lawyers and law-makers to test their imaginative powers to bring forth a statute that will punish this class of culprits as their crimes demand. The brute Guiteau should be hung, and the score of other dead beats who are roaming the streets of Washington with shot-guns and writing threatening letters to public officials should be in jails or asylums. George Francis Train should be confined, and we very much doubt whether the editor of the Pioneer Press should be allowed at large. Since Dr. Day was appointed Postmaster at St. Paul the man has given evidence of being a little "shattered" in the upper story. We throw out this as a hint to Gen. Hubbard and D. M. Sabin, that they may have an eye on him and his little shot-gun during the State campaign.
