Full Text

Mississippi Republican State Convention.

The Republican State convention of Mississippi declared that it recognizes, as the strongest evidence of the perfection of its political creed, the fact that we do not find it necessary to make any new departure now, nor announce any new dogmas. A resolution was offered indorsing the Kellogg government, but it was received with such demonstrations of hostility that the mover withdrew it. Senator Ames was introduced, and made a speech, saying, among other things, that if elected governor, and during his term any bill looking to the payment of the repudiated debt, or re-opening of the question in any way, should come up, I would most certainly veto it.
