Explodes at Saigon

SAIGON, April 8. (AP) A giant French ammunition dump on the outskirts of Saigon exploded this morning, and two hours later a scattered series of explosions continued to rock the city.

The French army threw barricades around the danger zone and began evacuation of all civilians. Truckloads of wounded, including women, children and French servicemen still were streaming into hospitals at noon.

Henri Cedille, commissioner at Cochin, China, issued a communique saying the explosions were accidental and requested the public to remain calm.
