Assault on an Officer.—Yesterday morning, as Officer Carrier, of the First ward, was on his way home from the Station-house, he was called on by the conductor of Car No. 26 to arrest two men who were acting disorderly in the car. The officer got into the car and requested the men to be quiet; they not doing so, he put them under arrest until he could call for assistance. They rushed by him and got out of the car, and as soon as he alighted they assaulted him in a furious manner, but he protected himself and succeeded in arresting one of them named Franklin Kirby, a mate of a schooner. He was committed to jail for court by Justice Drury, on the charge of resisting the officer.
