MEXICANS ACCLAIMING CARRANZA
PROPERTY OF AMERICANS IN MEXICO SEIZED, INCLUDING GOLD AND SILVER BULLION AND HERDS OF LIVESTOCK.

MEXICO CITY, July 1.—(Censored by Mexicans).

General Venustiano Carranza today is the Mexican national hero and all factions are rallying to his support. The press and the people vigorously approve the First Chief's answer to President Wilson's ultimatum, refuting the extravagant assertions contained in Secretary Lansing's note.

Minister Aguilar's reply was published here in the same editions with the American note, being thus given to the public for the first time. All officials declare that the tone of Carranza's reply was fully justified because of the tone of the American note.

Lansing Is Silent.

WASHINGTON, July 1.—Secretary Lansing today curtly refused to discuss the statement issued by the Mexican Foreign Office.

WASHINGTON, July 1.—President Wilson and all government officials are impatient because of Carranza's unwarranted delay in answering the State Department's latest demands.

Unless the answer arrives late today, the President will have to wait at least until next Wednesday before outlining the situation to Congress, as both houses planned to adjourn this afternoon until Wednesday.

Special Agent Rodgers at Mexico City sent several messages, but made no mention of Carranza's final answer.

Private dispatches from reliable sources indicate that Carranza is preparing to stand by his attitude of hostility towards the American troops now on Mexican soil.

WASHINGTON, July 1.—The State Department is officially advised that the Mexicans at Coahuila are rounding up all livestock and other property of Americans, and that all gold and silver bullion has been seized at The American Mining Company's properties at Manzanillo.
