Gets Year In Jail
Anchorage- Patricia Moses, also known as Juanita Bishop, was sentenced here last week to a year in federal jail when she appeared before Judge Anthony J. Dimond to plead guilty to issuing checks without sufficient funds. She will serve her term in the Anchorage jail.
The year's sentence was recommended by the U. S. attorney who told the court Mrs. Moses had previously served 60 days in jail in Fairbanks on a bad check count and that his office knew of three insufficient-fund checks currently outstanding against her.
Kodiak-Juanita Bishop left here a little over a year ago. For several months she and the late Leo (Rusty) Bishop, operated the Cheechako Grill here Despondent over a separation from her, Bishop later killed himself.
A suit was filed here several months ago by Ray Martin against Juanita Bishop for passing a check with insufficient funds, but was never heard by the commissioner because the defendant could not be found to be served.
