FORT TOTTEN, D. T., NOV. 10, 1878

EDITOR OF THE ALERT:

Things are looking brisk around this place.

The Fort Totten Variety Troupe are fixing their hall very nicely under the management of Mr. T. L. Gannon. The carpenter work is being done by Mr. Turpin, and the scenic work by Messrs. Fowler and Harduan. When completed the stage will be a marvel of beauty. The manager is a nice sort of a fellow, and with the donations of the officers at this post he intends giving the people of Totten several entertainments during the winter.

Major Crofton arrived here yesterday and will assume command this morning.

Yours,

Ho Bo.
