Washington Hull, Nov. 15, 1825—

London, Oct 8.—The letters received yesterday from Elmina, (Cape Coast,) are dated 1st July; their contents are of a very unpleasant nature. It will be remembered that the English Governor General Turner issued a proclamation in which he more than insinuated that the Dutch settlers had given every assistance to the Ashantees in their attack on the English possessions. This had been followed by very unpleasant consequences. General Turner had gone so far as to threaten two of the Dutch forts; and, at the date of these letters, hostilities were immediately expected; trade was entirely at a stand still, and no gold dust had been received from the interior for a series of months.
