ARKANSAS EDDIE'S POLITICAL STENCH SO FOUL OHIO MAN REJECTS M. E. TOO'S PLEA FOR JOURNAL'S HELP
Thompson Haunted By Slot Machines, Liquor and Bungling

Reports come out of Miami about a right interesting story.

As we heard it Acting Governor M. E. Thompson went down to Miami for the Georgia Tech-Kansas football game in the Orange Bowl on New Year's day.

While down there he decided to call up former Governor James M. Cox of Ohio at his winter home in Miami. Governor Cox owns the Atlanta Journal and a string of newspapers and radio stations in Ohio, Florida and Georgia. He controls the politics of the Atlanta Journal and radio station WSB in Atlanta. WSB is the only 50,000 watt, clear channel radio station in Georgia and the Atlanta Journal has the largest circulation of any daily newspaper in Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal and radio station WSB are powerful propaganda outfits and this daily and continual propaganda has quite an influence in Georgia politics.

A POOR GOVERNOR

So while M. E. was enjoying the Florida sunshine, watching the bands parade and the pretty girls twirling their batons, he decided he had better build up his fences with the owner and operator of the Atlanta Journal and WSB.

A most interesting conversation was reported. M. E. is said to have complained to Governor Cox that the Atlanta Journal was not treating him and his friends right.

Governor Cox was reported to have said M. E., we don't think you are making a good Governor."

M. E. TOO ASTOUNDED

M. E. appeared greatly surprised and wanted to know of Governor Cox why. M. E. was astonished. He had gone all out with Governor Cox to destroy the white primary and he had set idly by and said nothing. He has not rendered one feeble protest against the campaign to destroy the segregation of white and negro races in Georgia. He thought he had done everything to please the former governor and leading politician of the states of Ohio, Georgia and Florida. He had been bowing and scraping to the Atlanta Journal and to Governor Cox who is a chain operator of newspapers, radio stations and politics. Consequently, M. E. could not understand and this announcement by Governor Cox astounded little M. E.

COX OBJECTS TO RIVERS

Governor Cox told M. E. that he was dominated by Ed Rivers and that he and the Atlanta Journal did not like that a bit and the reports say that Governor Cox in no uncertain terms told M. E. that no man could be a good governor who was under the domination of Ed Rivers.

Then, said Governor Cox, "you are permitting the sheriffs in some of the counties of Georgia to operate slot machines and other kinds of rackets. You do nothing about it. On the contrary they are your friends and you defend and protect them."

COX CHAIN OPERATOR

So even in the opinion of the operator of chain newspapers, chain radio stations

and chain politics, the former governor of the State of Ohio, owner of The Atlanta Journal, James M. Cox, M. E. Thompson is not making a good governor.

It looks like any man with one eye and half sense could have found this out a long time ago and would not have had to wait until New Year's day, 1948. However, we think that Governor Cox found this out a long time ago. We think the Atlanta Journal and Governor Cox knew that M. E. would not make a good governor before the Supreme Court made him Acting Governor.

We think they supported M. E. because Governor Cox comes from the state of Ohio. He has headed one of the biggest political machines in the nation for a long time. He is the head of the Ohio machine and he hopes to hold the Negro vote in tow so that his gang can win. The only way he can do it is by fighting to destroy segregation in the south where his chain newspapers and chain radio stations operate.

But it is very interesting to know that even though M. E. helped destroy the white primary and is now by his silence and attitude trying to help Governor Cox destroy the segregation of the white and negro races in the south, that even Governor Cox's stomach is not strong enough to stand M. E.

Even James M. Cox of Ohio does not think that M. E. Thompson is making a good Acting Governor.
