UN-"LUCKY" BALDWIN.
Lucky Louise is Awarded $75,000 Damages.
At the conclusion of the Perkins-Baldwin breach-of-promise case at Los Angeles, Judge Hatch delivered a very impartial charge.
The jury came in with a unanimous verdict for plaintiff, fixing the damages at $75,000. Judgment accordingly was entered at once, with thirty days' stay.
While the jury was out, Baldwin had effected a transfer of a large part of his property. He filed with the Recorder a conveyance of his Santa Anita tract to H. A. Unruh, his agent, for $350,000. It is understood that he has forwarded to San Francisco, by express, proper papers to transfer the Baldwin Hotel and other San Francisco property to Lulu Drum, a young girl who was with him as a witness. It is said that this is not because of the verdict, but that his wife is taking steps for a divorce.
