Atlanta (AP)—Beginning movement long felt necessary in changing typographical theories in the mechanical department of the Scott Syndicate, which handles news. Beginning is newspaper approval union in the Scott syndicate the largest business of its kind in the South. Thus for a number of years, maintained a company employees club, which met under the auspices of the management of the business. The mechanical workers however believing this club was ineffectual in furthering their interests, decided to form an organization of their own by which they might take advantage of opportunity for collectively secure proper guarantees as skilled workers.

Protest Old System
The movement was a direct protest against the demerit system, which extensively punishes a worker take which in his is used to lower the salary. The management has been rebuffed petition abolish this system, but has maintained despite the employees obvious dissatisfaction.

Since unorganized protests availed the men little, they have formed a pressure group which has power to insist that its demands be heeded.

Every man in Scott Syndicate shop is included in the membership of the club, which comprises linotype operators, makeup men, pressmen, all types and handlers and proof-readers, all about twenty-five persons.
