During these summer months our Morning Worship is getting off to a good and prompt start, closing by twelve-thirty. One and one-half hour could not be more profitably spent than in worship, meditation, prayer, and Christian fellowship. A splendid group of friends joined us in worship last Sunday, and were mutually uplifted by the message. Too, we are grateful to the members and friends who accompanied the pastor to Camphor Memorial Church, St. Paul, Sunday evening, to hear Bishop A. Preston Shaw deliver his great and stirring sermon.
Tuesday evening our Troop No. 193, Boy Scouts of America, served as hosts to the hundreds of Scouts, Scouters, parents and friends gathered at Glenwood Park for their Annual Summer Revue. The guests were loud in their praise of the very fine entertainment and service rendered by our boys. Mr. Audrey W. Doughty, Scoutmaster, and Mr. Jack Posten, promoter, deserve great praise not only for the fine showing made by the boys, but also, for their own personal services which largely account for the success of the evening. Despite what may be said to the contrary, here are two mighty fine leaders of our boys into whose hands any parents ought to be glad to entrust the training and character development of their boys. We are justly proud of them, and are happy to be associated with them in such worthy and noble undertaking. On this same evening the Scouts' mothers gathered at Border's parsonage and organized a Troop auxiliary to help in this great movement. Officers elected were, Mrs. Weller White, president; Mrs. Corinne Bunn, treasurer, and Mrs. Lena Cobb, secretary. Space will not permit naming all of them, but they do represent a mighty fine group of mothers.
Wednesday evening the Official Board met in regular session. Checks were made on the progress of our summer plans; special plans for the closing of our Conference year were developed; and fall and winter plans were considered. Mr. David Francis was elected vice-president of the Official Board.
It has been a happy experience to have The Kentucky Harmony Singers, under the excellent leadership of Mrs. Louise Malone Braxton, work with us in our "Emergency Drive," May 10th to June 25th, 1938. We sincerely hope that the experience was mutually delightful. When the time comes that they must leave our city, they will carry with them our sincerest goodwill and abiding gratitude.
Representing the young people at Camp Wesleyan, Jenett Merrill Park, on Lake Minnetonka, last week, were Ethel Ash, Eleanor and Suzette Harris. It was for them a great experience.
On our sick list are Mr. Arthur Crawford, who is improved enough to return home, 4959 Humboldt Avenue North, and Mrs. Edna Pinckney, at the General Hospital. We ought to remember them in our prayers and with tokens and expressions of sympathy.
