An average of only 19 persons per week received unemployment benefits in the Marysville area during August, John F. Harrison, acting manager of the Union County office of the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation, said today. Of this number, seven were unemployed ex-servicemen receiving $20 per week under the federal Servicemen's Readjustment Act, and 12 were unemployed individuals covered by the State Unemployment Compensation Law.
Mr. Harrison stated that referrals by the Employment Service during August resulted in the placement of 45 workers in jobs, compared with the July total of 50. At the close of last month there were 49 persons registered for employment in the active files at the Marysville office.
Total new claims for the month of August was four, of which three were under the Ohio Law and one under the Servicemen's Readjustment Act. A total of 11 self-employed servicemen drew servicemen's readjustment allowances for the month of August for Marysville area.
