KINGSTON, in JAMAICA, October 4.

By Captain Bernard who arrived here on Sunday last from Gibraltar, we have Advice, That the brave Captain Fortunatus Wright, having fell in with a French privateer, (fitted out at Toulon on purpose to destroy Capt. Wright, on account of the incredible damage he had done their trade in the Mediterranean) and engaged her for near four glasses, during which the Frenchman several Times attempted to board him, but was constantly beat off, and at last received a shot betwixt wind and water, which obliged him to bear away to stop a leak; upon this Capt. Wright crowded sail after him, but a squall coming on, his lee guns broke loose, the force of which overset the Vessel, and every soul on board perished.
