Mr. Howard, Collier Heights, Parent, '60-'61'
The Collier Heights School family is proud to salute Mrs. Rubye H. Howard as the parent of the year, 1960-61.
In the Collier Heights P. T. A. she is the secretary chairman of the program committee and a grade mother. She is an active member of West Hunter Baptist Church and is a member of the following: the Board of Christian Education, committee on Youth Work, teacher in Youth Fellowship, teacher in Vacation Bible School committee on Christian Family Life, Service Guild Usher Board No. II.
She is a registered voter. In the community she is president of Hightower Community Service Club, Inc. She participates in the United Appeal, Cancer Fund and Mothers March campaigns. Mrs. Howard is a graduate of Clark College with a major in Home economics. She is a professional dress maker and designer. She has participated as a model in many fashion shows for schools, churches and social clubs.
At present Mrs. Howard is enrolled in a class, "Music in the Elementary Grades", at the same institution.
Mrs. Howard is the wife of Thomas Howard, Jr., band director of Carver Vocational High School, mother of three children, Claudia, Thomas and Deborah.
Mr. Kennon Thompson is principal.
