The St. Louis Democrat of Monday, states that on the day previous, a man named E. H. Cleveland was murdered in the Virginia Hotel of that city, under the following circumstances;--He was found lying in his room with a deep bowie knife cut in his breast and the knife lying upon his body. He had just paid his bill with the intention of leaving, and had gone a few minutes before to his room in company with a man named Wm. T. Alexander, or Wm. Sharp. The latter had disappeared, and the jury, in their verdict, accuse him of the murder, as his overcoat was found beside the deceased and the knife is believed to have belonged to him. Deceased was not robbed, a considerable sum of money being found on his remains as well as a gold watch.
