In New-Jersey, as in Pennsylvania, outrageous frauds were practised to carry the election in favor of the Administration. The Van Buren election officers in Saddle-River Township, Bergen county, certified that only twenty-four votes were given for the Whig ticket. But thirty-two Whig voters have solemnly sworn before a Justice of the Peace that they placed in the hands of the proper officers in that township Whig ballots. Their names and affidavits are given in the New Ark Daily Advertiser, and they certainly do prove a plain, palpable, undeniable case of collusion and fraud, or, rather, robbery of the ballot box. Affidavit evidence is also given, showing that in the single Township of South Amboy, Middlesex county, twenty aliens who had no claim to citizenship, were allowed to vote the Van Buren ticket. New cases of the most outrageous frauds are brought to light every day.
The total number of votes polled for and against the amendments to the Constitution of Pennsylvania, is upwards of 77,000 less than the aggregate vote for Governor. Another evidence of fraud in the vote for Governor.
