"The King shall joy in thy strength O Lord."
Psalms xxi.

How fit such rejoicing as this! The power of God is infinite; and that not merely in any one of its modes of exercise—its forms are unlimited as are the occasions for its use. The ability to rend mountains in sunder, or heave the sea from its bed, would to some appear a desirable possession; but one might have this, and yet be incapable of lifting a straw in mental or moral achievement. Some one might be a giant, as many have been, in science or literature, and yet be the helpless victim of the lowest passions of our nature. But a power that can assume every imaginable form, adapt itself to every possible occasion—well may its possessor and the friends rejoice in it.

How fit that a man should rejoice in the power of God! Unbounded love, infinite skill characterize its employment for every man who makes the Almighty his trust. No strength of kings, or sagacity of the wise may be compared to it as a means of daily support. In this strength a Stephen could fall asleep under a shower of stones—a Bunyan could visit the celestial city while enclosed by the walls of Bedford jail. Many wonders has it wrought, upon which it is a blessedness to reflect.
