LYKENS SCHOOL NOTES
Lykens Con. School Dist., Oct. 19 --The Community Improvement association was reorganized under the new constitution Friday evening with these officers: Geo. Stuckey, pres.; A. J. Michener, vice pres.; A. F. Smith, sec-treas. Mr. Stuckey appreciates the honor conferred upon him but has declined to serve. The office therefore is vacant and will be supplied at the next meeting Oct. 22. It is not easy to formulate a program until all officers and committees are appointed. When that is accomplished affairs can soon be in full swing.

All the Lykens teachers will attend the Northwestern at Toledo Oct. 29 and 30. There will be no school on the 29th.

Grange meetings the 2nd and 4th Friday evening of each month and community meeting 1st and 3rd,
Not many months have five Fridays but the 29th was selected for a meeting because it is necessary to get started. Rumor has it that two car loads of stone are already on the way for the road in front of the school grounds. When you are notified be ready to come with team and wagon to help haul the stone. Those who have no team and wagon come and push.

L. H. S. lost one ball game to Chatfield H. S. and one to Sycamore H. S. this season. We are game losers. We will try it again.

Newell Oder '19, is attending O. S. U., Grace Hawkins, '19, is attending a nursing school at Springfield, Ill.; Kermit Ohl, '18, is attending Heidelberg at Tiffin; Chester Sponseller, '19, is attending Baldwin-Wallace at Berea; Gerald Schiefer, '18, is employed in The Farmers & Citizens bank at Bucyrus; Russell Whitmyer, '19, will attend business college at Tiffin; Maud Tuttle, '17, Gail Tuttle, '17, Irma Hawkins, '17, Helen Smith, '18, Elizabeth Hawkins, '18, are at present teaching school. Nine of our graduates have gone to town or city to work and the majority are staying right here at home on the farm as farmers or farmers wives. So far we have not heard of any of our graduates going to the prison or workhouse.
